Richard Delp arrested for sexually assaulting a beaver and possession of methamphetamine - Mary Cummins

Richard Delp, Richard Martin Delp, beaver, washington, sexual assault, mary cummins, columbia, DOB 8-16-83, mental illness, drug abuse, criminal record, 36
On September 3, 2018 Richard Martin Delp was arrested for sexually assaulting a beaver who had been hit by a car. A woman had found the beaver in the street and placed it on a blanket to drag it out of the street so it wouldn't be hit again. Woman went to get help and came back half an hour later to see Richard Delp laying next to the beaver with his pants down. When she asked him what he was doing he responded "it's just a beaver." The beaver died. Delp wanted to plead guilty but Judge told him to hold off until he got an attorney. Delp admitted to what he did but said he was under the influence of drugs at the time. I don't know the outcome of the case. The case is closed. I see no sentencing.

Below are photos the woman took of the beaver as she tried to rescue it.

Here is an evidence photo taken by police.

He'd previously been arrested or carrying a concealed weapon and intimidation in 2009.

He has a long history of criminal behavior. He clearly has mental health issues and a drug problem to be able to commit this crime. I omitted the first one as the person had a different middle name.

Who is Ezra James, Ezra Lee James who lit a raccoon in a trap on fire for eating his mangoes?

Ezra James, Ezra Lee James, Palm Bay, Florida, raccoon, fire, burned to death, murder, mary cummins, animal advocates, brevard county, court records, jail, arrest, jamaica, 88 years old, felony, charged, aggravated

UPDATE: 12/13/2018 Defendant Ezra James pleaded nolo contendere to one count of cruelty to animals felony level 3 penal code 828..12.(2). Adjudication of guilt was withheld. Ezra is now a qualified offender and must give DNA. He was also fingerprinted. He's under supervised probation for 18 months. He must pay $609.92 in fees. He's been declared indigent. You can light a live raccoon in a trap on fire and let it suffer and just get a slap on the wrist. Shameful.

10/11/2018 Case continued at request of defendant. Early resolution scheduled for Dec 13, 2018 at 8:30 am before Judge Rhonda Babb Div 10 at Moore Justice Center.

There will be early resolution. Sounds like he's making a plea deal. I believe he will appear Oct 11 2018 to accept a plea deal. I have no idea what the plea is. I think he will plead guilty to a lesser offense and pay a fine and court costs. They may also sentence him to three years in jail with all time waived if he doesn't commit another crime while on probation for same time. That's just my guess.

The probably cause document has just been unsealed. It's below redacted as a two page pdf. Ezra is listed as retired. It states as follows,

"On August 16, 2018 Ezra Lee James did commit the offense of Animal Cruelty resulting in death by intentionally and willfully capturing a raccoon, pouring gasoline on it and setting it on fire while still in a metal trap. This resulted in the cruel death of the raccoon; when I arrived on scene the raccoon had been pulled out of the cage and was laying on the ground. The raccoon was still alive, completely burned, skin was pulled back from the feet from the burns. I had to put the animal down with my gun to end its suffering."

ORIGINAL: Ezra James trapped a raccoon which he believed was eating his mangoes. He admitted to then pouring gasoline on it lighting it on fire August 15, 2018 at night. He left the raccoon in the trap. The neighbor saw it and called police. Police humanely shot the raccoon to death to put it out of its misery. He was arrested at his home August 16, 2018. He paid bond and was bailed August 17, 2018. James, Ezra booking number 4857028.

Ezra Lee James was born February 12, 1930 in Jamaica. He currently lives in Palm Bay, Brevard County, Florida. He was arrested August 17, 2018 at his home. He was charged with a felony, cruelty to animals in the third degree. There are many other cases against him in Brevard County.

Ezra James was charged with a felony animal cruelty in the third degree. Sentence is no more than five years in jail and/or $10,000 fine. I personally believe Ezra James has some senility and has seriously lost his judgment. He admitted to his crime on video for the media. I think he should be sentenced to counseling, community service, a fine and probation. Jail time for an 88 year old man makes no sense.

Here it the court record as a pdf. It's also below as text but it falls apart.

In 2006 Ezra James went bankrupt. At the time he owned three homes and three cars which included a Cadillac Fleetwood, Lincoln Towncar and a 15 passenger Ford 350 bus. All homes were in foreclosure. He is listed as a transportation provider for the Port Authority of Florida. In 2006 he was a taxi cab service for E & J Transportation making $771/month and unmarried. He collected social security in the amount of $600/month. His bus was repossessed. He tried to get it back. His creditors fought the stays and discharges. His debts were discharged in 2007.

Coyotes not evil people are killing cats and small animals - Animal Advocates, Mary Cummins

coyote, killer, cat, cats, los angeles, california, mary cummins, animal advocates, kill, murder, animal sacrifice, evil, cruel, scalpel, cut open, rip skin, tail, head, organs, santeria, religious, religion

UPDATE: 03/20/2019 Cats killed in Edmonton were killed by coyotes and not a demented person.

"Nick Nation, a veterinary pathologist and adjunct professor, and Colleen Cassady St. Clair teamed up to study case 53 files and necropsy results cats killed between 2007 and 2017." They state exactly what I stated below about how coyotes kill, dismember and eat cats. This is science. These are facts.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/edmonton-cat-killing-coyote-study-university-alberta-1.5061572

Scotland Yard took three years to come to the conclusion that dead, mutilated cats were killed by foxes and not a "sick depraved human." Here's the summary.

"London police have announced the conclusion of a three-year investigation into a suspected cat serial killer – who activists believe has killed up to 400 animals since 2014. Police said Thursday the culprit, however, is not a person but the urban fox.

Detectives examined dozens of dead cats believed to have been killed by the Croydon Cat Killer, who became something of a local legend as reports of dismembered, beheaded and mutilated family pets began accumulating starting in 2014 in the south London district of Croydon.

But on Thursday police said that foxes were the culprits for the mutilations, which they said were all carried out on cats who had previously been killed by blunt force trauma. “Scavenging foxes then mutilated body parts – especially heads and tails,” police said."

Read the rest of the article. Again there is a suspect who is a male who drives around. How long will the people in Washington still believe a human is killing cats. It's clearly coyotes. It could also be foxes.

http://time.com/5401854/croydon-cat-killer-foxes/?xid=tcoshare

ORIGINAL: There have been many reports over many years about "sick, twisted humans" killing cats in gruesome ways. The owner of the cats and others insist a human must have used a "scalpel" to cut their cat in half or disembowel them with very little blood. Some even swear they saw a "sketchy looking man in a car driving around the neighborhood looking for cats to kill." They swear the body parts were "placed, staged" to cause humans fear. They even offer rewards for the "killer."

Years of evidence has shown that these are generally cases where a coyote or two killed a cat to eat.  Their main diet is wild bunnies, ground squirrels, gophers and berries. If you leave your cat outside and unprotected, they will eat it because it's easier to catch than a wild bunny or gopher. Keep your cat and all small pets indoors and protected.

WARNING! There are some dead cat photos at the bottom of this article. Don't scroll all the way down if you can't take it.

How to tell if a coyote or a human or a dog killed your cat.

Coyotes try to approach the cat from behind. They don't want to have to deal with sharp teeth and claws. They will grab the cat by the back of the neck and bite, shake hard to quickly kill the cat. Sometimes when they bite and shake the head comes off. They will keep their jaws clenched on the cat until they know it's dead. Sometimes the cats die from shock or suffocation.

Coyotes will generally just eat the protein and calorie rich organ meats. After the cat is dead they rip open the stomach area, disembowel the cat and eat the organs. Sometimes the intestines will be pulled out. Sometimes when eating the organs the cat ends up in two pieces. Sometimes they are hunting in a pack. One coyote may grab part of the cat while another grabs the other end. Sometimes they rip the cat in two ripping off all of part of the tail and maybe even degloving the remaining tail or skinning part of the body in the process.

They generally attack from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. when it's dark out. Because no humans are generally around at those hours they will eat the cat on the front lawn or parkway. They aren't "intentionally displaying the dead animal" as some state. Outdoor cats generally hang out in the front of homes. If the coyotes are interrupted while they are eating, they may take the cat parts and go eat elsewhere. If it's a pack of coyotes hunting for a female with pups, they may bring the entire dead cat back to the den. They also sometimes do this to train pups how to hunt and eat. Mom will rip open a cat so her pups can get to the organ meat.

Below is an article from Albuquerque Journal, New Mexico, Aug 1, 1993. It quotes Los Angeles County Animal Control.

"Mason's cat, Weasel, disappeared from the driveway of the couple's Plano home last month." "He found the body" "head and forepaw neatly severed, the heart and other internal organs removed and laid aside." 'Otherwise it was all clean. There was no blood on the cat's coat. The remaining intestines were all gone." "The body, head and paw, and heart seemed placed, Mason thought arranged in a triangle. He notified Plano police." Neighbors frequently see coyotes in the area but "Mason does not think coyotes killed his cat. I wouldn't rule anything out but I don't think so." "It looks like the animals have been surgically taken apart, because coyotes are very skilled predators," says Bob Ballenger, executive assistant of the Los Angeles County Dept of Animal Care and Control. "It's not a chew and a rip-up."

Here's another big scare that turned out to be coyotes. I have redacted the person's name and the name of the group. They were not from the area and not familiar with coyote kills. The coyotes live in the golf courses and leave to go eat outdoor cats for dinner at night.

September 12, 2005

“Dear Friends,
It is with great sadness that I write you tonight, but I feel I must get the word out. There have been a rash of cat mutilations in the area near Cashio St. and La Cienega in West LA. Ten cats have been
chopped in half or into three pieces and posed in the front yards of neighbors in this area since July. *** has been investigating this horrible violent criminal activity and has some leads but have not caught the perpetrator yet. We have posted $1,000 reward signs for information leading to the
conviction of the killer in the area where the bodies have been found. If anyone would like to help with this investigation please contact me at the *** and I will discuss with you ways that you can assist. By the way, it is always best to keep your cat indoors, but especially if you live in this neighborhood!!!"

If a dog were to kill a cat, they also go for the neck. After the cat is dead they generally don't eat it. They may play with it by tossing it around by the neck or legs. You will see a bit of dog saliva on the neck. Coyotes don't play with their food. They just eat it. Very little saliva on the neck. The main wound is on the neck. The other wounds are just from eating it.

Some wonder why there is very little blood at the kill site. There's a very good reason for that. The coyote breaks the cat's neck quickly. This causes the heart to stop pumping. The coyote finally rips into the stomach area, peritoneal cavity when the heart has stopped. For this reason the blood loss will be minimized.

How to keep your cats, small pets safe from coyotes.

The most important thing to do is keep your cats and small animals indoors and protected. If a coyote doesn't kill your cat, a dog, car, another cat could kill them.

It never makes sense to trap and kill coyotes who eat pets. Every coyote you trap/kill will instantly be replaced by another coyote. You'd also need a permit and trappers charge about $1,000-$1,500 to trap each coyote. Coyotes don't go into Hav-a-Hart traps and snare traps are now illegal in Los Angeles, California. It's illegal to trap and relocate healthy nuisance wildlife in California. You'd have to drive them at least 50 to 100 miles away or they'll just return anyway.

The best thing to do is not lure them to your home. Keep small pets indoors. Don't leave out cat food. Coyotes are omnivores who eat berries and seeds. Remove the bird feeder. Lock up your trash. Pick up dropped fruit. Clear brush where they den.

Also deter and exclude coyotes. Every time you see a coyote scare it away by stomping your feet, yelling at it, making loud noise, charge it, run after it... Exclude them with proper fencing and walls. Here's an article we wrote about keeping your animals safe from coyotes which goes into more details.

Below are some photos of cats and other animals killed by coyotes. Sometimes just the stomach is eaten. Sometimes they are ripped in two. This cat was disemboweled.

This cat was on my lawn May 2005. A neighbor was feeding a lot of outdoor feral cats. Coyotes came through and within three days ate most of them. Coyote also ate neighbor's two outdoor cats. I know for sure this was a coyote kill. coyote, killer, cat, cats, los angeles, california, mary cummins, animal advocates, kill, murder, animal sacrifice, evil, cruel, scalpel, cut open, rip skin, tail, head, organs, santeria, religious, religion
Notice spine is broken clear through. Most of it is missing. Ribs were broken to get to organ meats. Part of intestine is hanging out with part wrapped around the cat. This is from September 2018 in Florida. It is of course a coyote kill. Part of the spine is missing as are the ribs and organs. The coyote chewed through ribs to get to organs, also ate organs in abdominal cavity. Coyote may have been disturbed while eating and took that portion away from the site. TNR people believe it's a human doing this. No. TNR people are responsible for these cats' deaths. Don't leave cats outside for many reasons.

"This week, several mutilated cats were found along International Drive in Orlando Florida, by wait for it...TNR feeders. Someone is apparently going around and mutilating TNR cats, cutting them in half and even skinning a few. Then putting them on display."

So many times people think it's evil humans when it's not. There have been some truly embarrassing cases of people even police insisting it's a devil worshiper or someone who practices Santeria killing the cats. In the end people realize it's just coyotes. Only three out of 1,300 dead cat calls to Los Angeles Animal Services were not killed by coyotes. Coyotes eat cats and small pets to survive. They don't do it to be mean to people or pets. If you left a stack of money in the middle of the street and someone took it, don't blame the person who took it. Blame yourself for leaving it there unprotected.

Below are some good articles about this subject. This includes research on what coyotes actually eat. It also includes necropsies done by experienced wildlife veterinarians and other experts. They can DNA test the saliva on the neck and other places on the body. They can check to see if there is any coyote fur under the nails of the cats. Generally there's not as the coyotes kill so quickly from behind. Of the small dogs I've seen who were attacked by coyotes and survived, they only have a neck wound.

It's illegal to drown raccoons, opossums in Florida - Animal Advocates

Dewie Brown, florida, raccoon, opossum, drown, marion county, state attorney, animal advocates, mary cummins, wildlife, brad king, Forest High School, Ocala, animal cruelty, inhumane, commission, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission,
July 2, 2018 There was a set conibear trap under the chicken pen. Conibear traps snap onto the head or leg of an animal. Most animals will chew off that leg to get out of the trap. That's why these traps are illegal in most areas.

"New information: Law enforcement discovered an illegal steel trap set under a chicken pen at the Ocala school where a teacher had horrifically drowned three animals. The teacher, Dewie Brewton, admitted knowledge of this trap.

Yes, this illegal “conibear” trap was included in the report that went to state attorney, Brad King, along with irrefutable evidence of aggravated cruelty. Still, NO CHARGES were filed in this case. We will not tolerate deliberate cruelty to animals and blatant disregard for Florida’s laws."

May 14, 2018  Florida teacher Dewie Brewton drowned an adult raccoon, a juvenile raccoon and an opossum. He has just resigned.

People are asking if it’s illegal to drown raccoons and opossums. It’s illegal to drown nuisance wildlife in Florida. Below is the statute from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. http://myfwc.com/ .

68A-9.010 “Taking Nuisance Wildlife. (c) Euthanasia of nuisance wildlife shall be humane as defined by the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians or the American Veterinary Medical Association.”

https://www.flrules.org/gateway/RuleNo.asp?title=MISCELLANEOUS%20PERMITS&ID=68A-9.010

Per the AVMA, "S 1.5 page 46, “Other unacceptable approaches to euthanasia include hypothermia and drowning."

https://www.avma.org/KB/Policies/Documents/euthanasia.pdf

Drowning raccoons and opossums would be considered animal cruelty in Florida. Title XLVI Crimes, Chapter 828, “Animal Cruelty.”

828.12 (1)  “A person who unnecessarily overloads, overdrives, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance or shelter, or unnecessarily mutilates, or kills any animal, or causes the same to be done, or carries in or upon any vehicle, or otherwise, any animal in a cruel or inhumane manner, commits animal cruelty, a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or by a fine of not more than $5,000, or both.

(2) A person who intentionally commits an act to any animal, or a person who owns or has the custody or control of any animal and fails to act, which results in the cruel death, or excessive or repeated infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering, or causes the same to be done, commits aggravated animal cruelty, a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or by a fine of not more than $10,000, or both.

(a) A person convicted of a violation of this subsection, where the finder of fact determines that the violation includes the knowing and intentional torture or torment of an animal that injures, mutilates, or kills the animal, shall be ordered to pay a minimum mandatory fine of $2,500 and undergo psychological counseling or complete an anger management treatment program.

(b) A person convicted of a second or subsequent violation of this subsection shall be required to pay a minimum mandatory fine of $5,000 and serve a minimum mandatory period of incarceration of 6 months. In addition, the person shall be released only upon expiration of sentence, is not eligible for parole, control release, or any form of early release, and must serve 100 percent of the court-imposed sentence. Any plea of nolo contendere shall be considered a conviction for purposes of this subsection.

(3) A person who commits multiple acts of animal cruelty or aggravated animal cruelty against an animal may be charged with a separate offense for each such act. A person who commits animal cruelty or aggravated animal cruelty against more than one animal may be charged with a separate offense for each animal such cruelty was committed upon.

http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0800-0899/0828/Sections/0828.12.html

We feel that Dewie Brewton committed three acts of intentional aggravated animal cruelty in the third degree. If convicted, the sentence would be six months jail time per act, $10,000 fine per act, psychological counseling and completion of an anger management program. We wrote a letter to the state attorney Brad King who oversees Marion county, Florida where this happened asking for charges to be made. We cc'd the letter to the Fish & Wildlife Commission, the school and the school district.

02/28/19: Michael Menzel in shark dragging pleads guilty to two misdemeanors and gets ten days in jail and probation. Robert Benac awaits trial. Charges dropped against Spencer Heintz. The state dropped the main charge which was dragging the shark behind the boat. They dropped the charge as a shark expert said the shark was dead before they dragged it.

"Wenzel had been facing another felony count of animal cruelty, but it was reduced to a misdemeanor. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of using an illegal method to catch a shark. A commercial fisherman, his saltwater fishing license was revoked for five years. Along with his jail time, which he can serve on weekends, he was sentenced to 11 months of probation and 100 hours of community service. A prosecutor asked that half those hours be served at an animal shelter or animal abuse facility, but attorneys questioned whether such a center would allow him near animals."

Robert Benac was offered the same plea deal but he refused and case is going to trial.

Alleged animal cruelty in production of "A Dog's Purpose" movie coming out soon - Animal Advocates

A Dog's Purpose, animal cruelty, dog, water, Birds and Animals Unlimited, Ray Beal, Raymond Beal, Canada, Animal Advocates
UPDATE: 02/03/2017 AHA just released the results of their investigation into themselves. They cleared themselves of all wrong doing, imagine that. Here is their report http://tmz.vo.llnwd.net/o28/newsdesk/tmz_documents/nr-report_Redacted-2.pdf

As an employee for AHA we were told that the animals cannot be stressed or frightened. That is "abuse." The dog didn't die but it was still frightened. That is not allowed on set per AHA's own regulations.

AHA investigated themselves in the tragic deaths of horses in the movie "My Friend Flicka." They said the deaths were "unavoidable accidents." That's not what the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services said after their very thorough investigation. They said the deaths were avoidable. No horse should be allowed to run with a dangling lead. That's common sense. You wouldn't let a little kid run with long shoe laces untied. Here is the official report from the City. http://www.animaladvocates.us/Flicka_Incident.pdf    Here is the result of AHA's investigation into themselves. http://www.eonline.com/news/49785/report-accidents-fell-flicka-friends  I worked for AHA during this time though I wasn't on the Flicka set. One of the AHA horse experts said it was the inspector's fault. An immediate result was adding to the inspection manual that no horse should be allowed to run free with a long dangling lead.

01/23/2017 I thought Gavin's name sound familiar. We went to Beverly Hills High School together.

Gavin Polone producer of "A Dog's Purpose" just gave a statement about the incident and the American Humane Association (AHA). He stated "American Humane Association (AHA) is not an adequate protector of animals on set. They are not independent from the studios. They don't take a stand against abuse. They should have stopped this."

http://tmzvod-a.akamaihd.net/tmz/2017-01/23/0_rqf3japn_0_dibiz8d9.mp4

PETA has released a protest flyer.

http://tmz.vo.llnwd.net/o28/newsdesk/tmz_documents/dogs-purpose-peta-flier.pdf

The animal trainers have released this statement. This doesn't change anything. The dog was frightened. Everyone admits that. This is considered "harm." They admit the dog got sucked under the water. That would have also been frightening for the dog. They pulled the dog out. He did not drown or have any permanent harm. Still, he was frightened. Per AHA you cannot allow the animals to be frightened to shoot a scene. We still don't know who was holding the dog and trying to force him in the pool. It had to have been someone with Birds and Animals Unlimited. It doesn't look like Beals or the other listed animal trainer.

http://tmz.vo.llnwd.net/o28/newsdesk/tmz_documents/0123_a_dogs_purpose_statement.pdf

This is from Gavin from the Hollywood Reporter.

"Last Thursday, I went to Amblin's office and watched all the film shot on the day in question, as well as saw video from the trainers and still photographs. As with the TMZ video that you saw, two things were evident: 1) the dog handler tries to force the dog, for 35 to 40 seconds, into the water when, clearly, he didn’t want to go in; and 2) in a separate take filmed sometime later, the dog did go into the water, on his own, and, at the end, his head is submerged for about 4 seconds. These two things are absolutely INEXCUSABLE and should NEVER have happened. The dog trainer should have stopped trying to get the dog to go in the water as soon as the dog seemed uncomfortable, and the trainers should have had support under the dog as soon as he came to the side of the pool and/or had less turbulence in the water so he never would have gone under. The American Humane Association (AHA) representative who is paid by the production to “ensure the safety and humane treatment of animal actors,” as its website states, should have also intervened immediately on both of those parts of the filming. So should have whomever was running the set. Those individuals should be held accountable and never used again by that studio or its affiliates.

I also hold myself accountable because, even though I was not present, I knew and had written about how ineffective AHA has been over the years. Its monitors have been present when bad things have happened to animals on sets, not offering enough protection to stop those events and displaying no real protest after they occurred. Though AHA is the standard guarantor of animal safety on all studio productions and I was not consulted when they nor the dog trainers were hired, I should have fought with the studio to come up with alternatives to serve those functions. I didn’t, and there is nothing to mitigate my inaction. I’m deeply sorry about that."

01/21/2017 The producer has supposedly seen the "original full video." That is impossible because that was someone's personal cellphone video. The producer could have only seen the professional video the cameraman shot from a different angle. Of course the cameraman is not going to be shooting when the animal is just getting used to the water. Cameraman would only film when they were ready to shoot it for the film.

The producer said that the dog was in the water earlier that day and was fine. They just wanted to shoot it from the other side. Dog was not trained to jump in the water on the other side. Dog got scared.

That story makes no sense. The trainer was trying to dip the dog in the water so he would realize the water is warm. That is on the audio on the video. If the dog had indeed been in the water earlier, he would have already known it was warm.  Dog also would have been wet and not dry.

Producer went on to say the dog was not physically harmed or killed. We realize that. Still, the dog was frightened. When I worked for AHA we had to make sure the animals were not frightened. They said dog chasing cats can't be induced by fear. They must train the animals to follow the other and make it appear to be chased. That dog was clearly frightened. Everyone admitted that. That is against AHA regulations. The dog doesn't have to die for it to be a violation of AHA regs or cruelty.

I think that was first time dog was getting into the water with the jets on. Why not put him in the water with the jets off then slowly turn them on so he can get used to it? If you look at the final cut, the dog jumps off a wooden ledge. There's no water in the pic. The next frame is from another angle with the dog going into the water. The dog did not jump into the water on the final film. I haven't seen the full movie, only the trailer.

The producer now asks the question "why didn't they take the video to the media 15 months ago when it was filmed? Why did they wait for the press junket?" The answer is clear. The dog was not injured or in danger of dying. There would be no reason to make it public instantly. PETA or whomever released the tape to TMZ a week before the opening of the film and press junket. The reason was to get full media attention on the issue. FTR I don't support everything PETA does. I'm against circus and zoo animals. I support sanctuaries. I think there can be some safe and humane exhibit of animals for education or positive media. This movie could have been that positive media. There was no reason to scare the dog like that.

They also should have tested the jets to see if the dog could get sucked under like he was. If you angle jets against a corner, it will cause animals, people to get sucked under. There's a place on some famous rapids where if you don't go straight through the middle, you will get sucked under and sucked to the bottom of the river. They can't even get the dead body out because the force of the swirling water keeps the body pressed to the rocks.

http://ew.com/movies/2017/01/20/dogs-purpose-author-additional-footage-paints-different-picture/

Here are the AHA guidelines.

"If any animal appears aggressive, stressed and/or charges, threatens or bites any
person or animal, it shall be removed immediately from the set and location."

https://www.americanhumane.org/app/uploads/2016/08/Guidelines2015-WEB-Revised-110315-1.pdf

01/19/2017 "There will be no premiere for "A Dog's Purpose" because the studio that produced it is still reeling from the video posted showing it's animal star in distress.

Amblin and Universal studios are still reviewing footage that syncs up with the video TMZ posted to determine what happened to Hercules when he clearly was recoiling as his trainer tried pulling him into the water. The studios say the dog is fine and was never abused.

The studios know lots of people are upset after seeing the video. The studios have also canceled the press junkets."

This is sad all the way around. I know the main producer, actors love animals and would never want to see them harmed. They hoped the movie would want to make people adopt pets from shelters which is why they teamed up with Best Friends. I hoped the same. I personally feel what happened with the dog on the second production team was the result of underlings just trying to get the shot no matter what. I don't know who is the guy holding the dog and trying to get him in the water. I don't think it's Bean because he looks different. It's also not the other animal trainer who looks different. No other animal trainers are credited in the film. Did they let anyone try to force the dog in the pool? If AHA was there, what went wrong? I was trained by them, worked for them for one day so I know that they don't really care about animals. Still, what went wrong here.

_________________

I will predict that nothing happens to the people involved.

"A Dog's Purpose" crew members are now under investigation by Canada's Chief Veterinary Office, and jail time is on the table if the agency finds any wrongdoing.
The CVO tells TMZ it received a formal complaint on Wednesday, and has begun looking into what went down on the set during filming in Winnipeg.
TMZ posted the video of Hercules, a German Shepherd, appearing terrified to get in churning water to shoot a scene for the movie. The trainer tried for about 40 seconds to put Hercules in the pool. The CVO says it wasn't involved with the filming, because a rep from the American Humane Association was on set. That rep, we've learned, has since been suspended.
The Office could levy a fine up to $10k and/or sentence offenders to up to 6 months in jail."

PETA confirmed that all the animals in the film came from Birds and Animals Unlimited in Acton, California. That is the website and Facebook page that has been shut down all day.

"The animal-rights group is targeting a specific animal supplier — Acton, CA-based Birds & Animals Unlimited.

According to PETA, a manager at BAU told its undercover investigator that they provided all the dogs for the film and Deadline confirmed this evening that BAU handled the dog in the video."

The producer stated this,

“I’m horrified by this,” said Polone. “The first thing I asked was, ‘Is the dog OK?’ He’s fine. But if I had seen that, I would have stopped it in a minute. People have to be held responsible for this. It was someone’s job to watch out for this kind of thing. Why didn’t they? This is something I’ve written about before, whether it be circus animals or animals on set. American Humane are supposed to be there supervising. That’s their job that someone is paid a lot of money to do. Why wasn’t this stopped? There needs to be a better system than this. That’s what I’ve called for in the past. I agree with PETA that they not only need to make sure animals are treated properly on set, but they also need to find out where the animals are kept outside of the set. To make sure they are treated properly at all times.”

"Animal Justice says it has filed complaints with the Winnipeg Humane Society, the Chief Veterinary Office of Manitoba, and the Winnipeg police department alleging violations of federal and provincial animal protection laws.

“Throwing a terrified German Shepherd into rushing water is blatant animal cruelty,” Camille Labchuk, a lawyer and executive director of Animal Justice, said in a news release.

“It is illegal to inflict suffering and anxiety onto animals, and there is no loophole that lets Hollywood moviemakers get away with abusing animals on a film set."

"Actor Josh Gad, who lends his voice to a dog in the film, issued a statement on Twitter saying he has asked the studio and production team for an explanation of what he calls "disturbing images."

He said that while the finished film is "one of the most beautiful love letters to animals I have ever seen," he was troubled by the video.

"I am shaken and sad to see any animal put in a situation against its will," Gad wrote. A publicist for the actor confirmed the post was authentic."

The scene is included in the movie. You can't use film where someone, an animal was harmed. That's law so people won't make snuff films or intentionally do a dangerous stunt. Below are a few frames from the trailers.

The producers just said that the dog "Hercules" was not forced to perform and he's fine. They stated the film "A DOG'S PURPOSE, produced by Amblin Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures, is a celebration of the special connection between humans and their dogs. And in the spirit of this relationship, the Amblin production team followed rigorous protocols to foster an ethical and safe environment for the animals.

While we continue to review the circumstances shown in the edited footage, Amblin is confident that great care and concern was shown for the German Shepherd Hercules, as well as for all of the other dogs featured throughout the production of the film. There were several days of rehearsal of the water scenes to ensure Hercules was comfortable with all of the stunts. On the day of the shoot, Hercules did not want to perform the stunt portrayed on the tape so the Amblin production team did not proceed with filming that shot.

Hercules is happy and healthy."

Sounds like bullshit to me.

Story gets worse! American Humane Association was on set monitoring the animal. The inspector said and did nothing! I was trained by AHA and worked for them for a day. They side with the filmmaker over the animals.

"The representative from the American Humane Association who was on the set of "A Dog's Purpose" has been suspended after officials saw video of a terrorized dog on set."

Disturbing video below showing an animal trainer forcing his dog into turbulent water who then goes under was posted on TMZ earlier today. The scene was part of the movie "A Dog's Purpose" which is coming out January 27, 2017.

The animal trainers listed for the film are Raymond Beal of Birds and Animals Unlimited and Brian Turi of Studio Animals. The film "A Dog's Purpose" partners with VCA and Best Friends. We sent a polite email asking about the footage to ir@vca.com ericr@bestfriends.org studioanimals@gmail.com California@birdsandanimals.com. We will post their reply when they reply. The man in the video does not look like Brian Turi. It looks like Ray Beal a little. He works with that type of dog. Here's a pic of him. I am not 100% positive that Ray is the person in the video. The person in the video appears to be balding and has red hair. Maybe it is the water safety person? I've asked all involved who it was but no response. Nonetheless the trainer and AHA person should have been watching out for the dog and not allowed that shot.

This is from a behind the scenes of the movie. This is one of the handlers. It looks like Ray Beal. I wonder if the guy is the AHA person. We had to wear our shirts and hat on set. I worked for them for one day though went through a week of training.
