Animal Advocates' volunteer Mari Shepard passed away

It is with great sadness that I share the news that Maridean Shepard who'd been a volunteer for Animal Advocates for over ten years and a good friend has passed away. She had been fighting various illnesses over the years, lapsed into a coma and peacefully left this world in her sleep last night. 

Mari was born January 20, 1952. She was from Ventura, California. She was an artist, a drummer, music teacher, wildlife rehabilitator, actor, devout Christian and a good friend to many. She loved rehabbing baby squirrels and tenderly cared for many baby squirrels over the last ten years besides her birds. 

Mari is survived by her sisters Judy (Litteral), Dianne (Herrera), nieces, nephews, all her many Facebook friends and friends from her church. She was preceded in death by her mother Nadine Miller, father Howard Mansfield, brother Don Mansfield, husband Kent Shepard, squirrel Raymond Bartamaeus Jacopo Mansfield and squirrel Buddy Isiah Mansfield. If her family will be having a service, I will post it here. Goodbye, Mari. God has a new angel in heaven. Ray and Buddy will be so happy to see you again.
